FAQs

Zero Waste Products

1. Where can I get discount with my HOC reusable cup?
Reward for re-use is becoming more common. At Starbuck, you will receive a game-changing VND10k discount each time you choose to reuse, which means that with just 30 uses, the saving would have paid for the cup.
We are working with other coffee chains to implement more discount as we speak, stay tune for updates.

2. What are the materials of HOC reusable dinnerware?
HOC reusable cup/lunch box/cutlery is made mainly from biodegradable bamboo fiber or wheat straw, corn starch and a small amount of food-grade binder.

3. How do I dispose of HOC reusable dinnerware?
The cup/lunch box/cutlery is very durable and can last up to 3-5 years. When you are done with it, in order to dispose safely, first make sure you crush it into small pieces.
You can choose to bury with organic waste: boil small pieces with hot water, then bury while hot. The dinnerware will decompose within 24-36 months depending on the environmental conditions and leave about 3-5% residual material.
Or the best way is to dispose the crushed dinnerware with conventional waste. Whilst that may sound counter-intuitive, if it is does end up in landfill, it will degrade over time in a warm, moist environment. We hope you agree that 3-5% residual material is better than 100% of plastic that will never biodegrade.

4. Where is HOC dinnerware manufactured? Is it ethically produced?
HOC cup/lunch box/cutlery is designed in Vietnam and responsibly made in Anhui province, China.
80% of bamboo and wheat straw materials are grown in China, so it is just logical to manufacture our eco-friendly products there.
We work closely with factories that are focused on eco-friendly and non-toxic products, and we are always looking for ways to make our products more ethically responsible and accountable.

5. Why choose bamboo or wheat straw product?
Bamboo is a natural, renewable resource that supports a healthier lifestyle (and the planet). As one of the fastest growing and most resilient plants in the world, it requires very little water and no fertiliser. Wheat straw is even better, as it is an industry by-products.
And because it’s biodegradable, it won’t end up in landfill.
HOC eco-products allows you to make a healthier choice for now and keep the planet in good shape for their future.
